The overall aim of this group is to improve members' conversational ability whilst brushing up on grammar.
Although we are a mixed ability group all of us have had some formal teaching. The group is not therefore suitable for beginners.
We aim to conduct an hour of the meeting speaking only in Italian as this really does help to get the language flowing.
We begin sessions by sharing news of activities members have enjoyed since the last meeting. We then use videos or CD’s to look at grammar exercises completed as “compiti” (homework) sharing any difficulties we have.
We then either do a translation or hold conversations using pictures on various topics or perhaps play a game such as Scarebo (Italian version of Scrabble). We end with tea and biscuits and catch-up in English!
