Literary friendships are fascinating and none more so than the relationship between two of our greatest Victorian writers, Charlotte Brontë and Elizabeth Gaskell. Fortunately for us, they wrote many letters to each other!

Join Libby Tempest, Vice-Chair of the Gaskell Society, to find out more about this important friendship between these two remarkable women. Now retired, Libby worked in public libraries all her working life, most noticeably in Mrs Gaskell’s home city, Manchester. She now has time to research her favourite Victorian women novelists!
